ion flame color testing

These are the results i obtained from the flame tests.
The CoCl burned orange.
The LiCl burned  cherry red.
The CaCl burned an orangish red.
The CuCl burned green.
The NaCl burned bright orange.
The KCl burned a light purple.
The SrCl burned red.
The FeCl burned orange.
The BaCl burned leaf green.

the unknown chemical was a blue solution, and it burned green and purple, so that would mean that there was potassium and copper in it.
Also copper sulfate is a blue color.

mid-term evaluation

                                                  mid-term evaluation
What I enjoy doing the most is the labs, like the vitamin C lab.
I like learning things about science and technology that I wouldent have normaly known.                          The online blog posts make it easy to get in projects from home, and it is faster then writeing them by pen.
It is also nice to have time in the computer lab or on my blog app to work on other projects that are needing to be done.

features of personal technologies

The personal technology that i have chosen is my cell phone.
The feature i will talk about is the LCD screen (liquid crystal display).
the screen  is a 4.3" super AMOLED plus display screen, and the screen resolution is 480x800
there are many uses for LCD screens, some of them include cameras, cellphones, watches, computers and an infinite number of other things have them.
The technology just keeps getting better for LCD screens, every year the LCD screens have better resolution and are thinner. the LCD screens today are much thinner and the price for them keeps going down.

biological compounds

1) the amino group of an amino acid forms a bond with a carboxyl group of another amino acid, and a molecule of water is released.
That is how proteins are made.

2)

3)

4)

5)

6)

simple organic compounds

1) a carbon atom has 6 electrons and 6 protons
with a molar mass of 12.01
2) single bond              /O\        Water
                                 H   H

Volunteering

For my 5 hours of volunteer work I did landscaping at the school.
What I did is help dig trenches in the back field of the school for the irrigation system so that the field gets watered.
It benefited the school community because it helped water the grass so that we can play sports in the back field. It would be harder to play football or soccer on dead grass because there would be not as much grip. And grass also looks better green.

baking soda/powder

This lab is about the reaction of baking soda and vivigar vs the reaction of baking powder and water.

My prediction was that the baking soda would  react more then the baking powder

when I mixed the baking sona and the vinigar they reacted fast and created lots of what i think is carbon dioxide gas.
when I mixed the baking powder with water it reacted much slower, but over a longer time.
So the baking soda does react more then the baking powder.

Lab#4.4

lab #4.4
prediction
1)BaOH+H2SO4-->BaSO4+H2O there were no noticeable changes.
2)Cl+NaI-->NaCl+I, the solution became an orange color.
3)Zn+CuSO4-->ZnSO4+Cu, the blue liquid became clear.
4)CaCl+NaCO3-->CaCO3+NaCl, there was a white precipitate.
5)CoCl2+NaOh -->NaCl2+CoOH, there was a blue precipitate.
6)Ca+H2O-->H+CaOH. there was lots of gas bubbles and the solution turned white.
7)NaCH3COOH+HCl-->NaCl+CH3COOH
8)Mg+2HCL--->MgCl+H2, this reaction produced lots of gas.

My Personal technology

All the date that I obtained from personal technology chart pointed to one thing.

The personal technology that I use the most would be hands down, my smart phone.                                                          It goes above and beyond all my basic needs.  It can do almost everything that a computer can do, and even things that a computer can’t do, for example, I can download movies or music and instantly share them wirelessly on my TV using all share.  I also find my Samsung galaxy S2 really good for photography because I can take my card out of my camera and put it into my phone and from there I can load it onto Facebook  instagram, or pintrest wherever I am.

If I didn't have my phone, it wouldn't make that big of an impact on me because I went most of my life not having it and didn't realize that I was missing anything. It is just a luxury not so much an essential. If I did loose it, I would definitely use the computer a lot more to check my email, Facebook, etc.

I mentioned some of the positives of having a smart phone, but I also want to bring up some of the negatives.  The first one that comes to mind is that people become consumed with their phones.  No matter where they go, or what they do, they’re with a few hundred of their friends.  I personally know people who are so consumed with Facebook that they have to check it every few minutes to see if anyone commented on their latest status update.  If they aren't doing that, they are messaging their friends about everything that happens and they can never let go of that connection.   It actually stops them from interacting with their environment.

Is that healthy?  Isn't it important to have private time to think your own thoughts?
Society does try to push people to buy these phones and tells everyone that they can’t live without it.
They tell you that the current phone you have is the old version and you need to get the new one or else you won’t be able to survive. But the fact of the matter is that the current phone that you have is probably still just as good as when you first bought it, though it may have a few more scratches on it, but it still does the same thing in the inside and has not gotten any slower because the new one that just came out is faster.  My conclusion is that if a new version of my phone came out, I wouldn't get it because it really has just a few minor software changes made and looks a bit different.  Of course if something tragic happened to mine, I would definitely get the upgrade.
